{"id":2199549,"date":"2017-01-11T16:19:26","date_gmt":"2017-01-11T16:19:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/forelockandload.local\/?p=95"},"modified":"2024-03-13T13:00:40","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T13:00:40","slug":"bombers-bitting-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.citrus-lime.com\/flld\/bombers-bitting-advice\/","title":{"rendered":"Bombers Bitting Advice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As many of you know I\u2019ve got the Princess back in the folds for a few months.\u00a0 As of yet, her path for the 2017 Eventing season is slightly hazy due to my work commitments and the fact I am also getting married!\u00a0 I am loving having her home and we\u2019re mainly working on her flat work.\u00a0 She had a few weeks off when she arrived back and has settled back in to the fold really quickly.\u00a0 Max has fallen head over heels again \u2013 who wouldn\u2019t!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway, I felt that she was a little fixed on her left rein, even though I am right handed I would deem myself left hand dominant \u2013 doesn\u2019t make sense to me either!&nbsp; I then decided to have a play around with her bit to see if we could find a solution.&nbsp; Between myself and Claire Lund from Bombers we do a lot of bitting advice, although I guess it\u2019s a bit like being a gardener and coming home to tend to your own garden but I didn\u2019t really think about applying some advice to myself!&nbsp; So I got her teeth, back and saddle checked and all were given the ok and then I spoke at length to Claire about the problems I was having on the flat.&nbsp; We concluded that we should try the&nbsp;<a title=\"Bombers Loose Ring Barrel 20\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forelockandload.com\/collections\/equestrian\/products\/bomber-loose-ring-barrel-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bombers Barrel 20<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"154\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.citrus-lime.com\/flld\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/61\/2024\/03\/bombers_barrel_20_medium1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2201254\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I have hired it in the loose ring which provides instant release and for the bit to reset in the horse&#8217;s mouth as you give, but I will change it to the eggbutt as I think the mare will appreciate a bit more stability from the eggbutt ring.\u00a0 The change has been incredible!\u00a0 The Barrel 20 limits the nut cracker action and increases the pressure on the tongue but removes it from across the bars of the mouth due to the locking action.\u00a0 Immediately Daisy was more comfortable and much more consistent in both reins with a marked improvement on the left.\u00a0 I was seriously impressed!\u00a0 We offer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forelockandload.com\/collections\/hire\/products\/bomber-bit-hire-loose-ring-barrel-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Bomber Barrel 20 Bit hire\">this bit to hire<\/a>\u00a0as well as a straight purchase and it is BD legal!\u00a0 We do recommend you always check with your governing body prior to competition.
