Toby Pettitt Recent Round Up On The BS Circuit!

Posted on 05 October 2015

On the 6th September I went to the Jays in Bury St Edmunds to compete in the Discovery and Newcomer classes on my ponies.  There were a lot of entries in the Discovery class and I just missed out in the top 3 placing's which was a little annoying but I was pleased with his performance.  I had much better luck in the Newcomers class where I decided to try and push Dan on, to ride a faster round which definitely worked as we came 2nd and won prize money which is always great!

Then on the 12th September I went to Easton College to compete in their BS junior show.  I entered the Discovery class which was 90cm, it was a very busy class with lots of entries. Dan was superb in the warm up arena as it got very busy with lots of other ponies and riders warming up; luckily he doesn't take any notice of other people and just gets on with his job!  The course was catching quite a few people out with many having fences down or being eliminated due to stops.  Dan had a good look at one of the fences but that didn't stop him from putting in a superb round and I was thrilled to pick up 3rd place! Another great day.

My next show was back to the Jays on the 26th September.  Again it was a very busy show, I again entered both the Discovery and Newcomers classes.  Dan jumped really well but unfortunately finished just outside of the placings! I am now going to concentrate on getting my four double clears in Newcomer classes in order to qualify for the Newcomers 2nd rounds which will take place in 2016 and are qualifiers to compete at HOYS. I have already got my qualifications in the Discovery so will compete in the second rounds next year.  I have decided to give Dan and myself a couple of weeks off from showjumping as we have been out competing a lot recently so he can have a short holiday.  We will be having schooling and flatwork lessons in the meantime and we will soon be back out competing on the Winter circuit!
