Keira show jumping on Norah

Following on from my last update I am now 14 years old and have a horse called Turloughrevagh Sparkle (Norah) who is an 8 year old grey 15:1hh Connemara mare. I have owed her for just over a year now. We do lots of competitions and fun things with my friends and their horses.

Norah and I absolutely love cross country and I would like to go BE with her next year. I am working really hard with her on our flatwork and my hard work is paying off. There is a lot of improvement showing and it is helping with my show jumping and cross country. This year we have managed to qualify for the Connemara Dressage Championships. We had our first experience of a stay away show and we came 2nd and were the top junior. I was absolutely thrilled. The Championships were held at Moreton Morrell in Warwickshire and it was so much fun. We also qualified for the Riding Club Horse Trials Championships where we came 8th in a hugely competitive competition. The XC was causing carnage all day! We went to Hartpury last weekend for the SWW Riding Club Championships for the style jumping, riding test and dressage classes. We came away with lots of individual and team placings. To finish off the season we have qualified for the Connemara Eventing Champs which are being held in a few weeks. It has been a really fun and exciting summer for us both and a great experience competing at championship level.

Keira and Norah Cross Country

My favourite tack shop is Forelock and Load. I absolutely love the Eskadron rugs, headcollars and saddle pads you can get for your horses and ponies. I also love Ariat clothes, boots and accessories (their socks are unreal!). Everything fits perfectly and mum says it all washes well! I think the best thing is the clothing is so functional and last for ages – apart from when I grow out of it! The riding tights are my favourite – as they are very comfortable and are the most amazing piece of clothing. I also love Bombers Bits, Kirstie and Bombers have been so helpful in getting the right bits for Norah and I. There is literally a bit that will fit every horse, they make 10,000’s of them! I also like buying delicious treats for Norah as a reward for when she is good and needs a reward or just because I want to spoil her! NAF Cherry Treats are her favourite and they smell divine.
