Hello everyone, long time no speak…
I just checked back on the website and I haven’t updated you all since our beach trip in September last year. Fast forward nearly another year and a global pandemic. It’s safe to say 2020 hasn’t gone as planned and the world is a much different place.
As most of you know I work in the Public Sector so it was very much life as normal for me during the lockdown, Goat does not cope with long periods of time off; one it blows his brain and two he seizes up from his arthritis so I kept him ticking over throughout the lockdown with lots of flat work and hacking.

Lockdown for us raised an amazing opportunity to start training with Olivia Towers from Towers Dressage via Zoom. I bribed my sister to hold the camera for me and I bought a cheap par of wireless headphones and we were away. If it wasn’t for the lockdown we wouldn’t have been able to train with Olivia due to her being based over 150 miles away. I am very excited to reveal we will be making the long trip across country to stay and train with her in person next month for a mini dressage bootcamp.
Now I see you looking confused as you read this, you might be thinking Kathryn I thought you were an eventer. I made the decision at the start of the year to focus our attention towards dressage and before the pandemic was about to register us with BD.
BUT…
When restrictions started being lifted and realising throughout lockdown you really do have to make the most of every opportunity in life we entered our first 90 Eventer Trial. Go hard or go home right, what could go wrong we only did one event at 80 last year…

On Thursday 9th July we headed off to Poplar Park to contest our first 90. Technically we did get eliminated (Goat lived up to his stubborn nature at fence 3) but as it was UA we were allowed to continue and he flew the rest of the course. Overall a really promising round and leaving me confident we are ready to be riding at this level.
Our next event in the calendar is the training day at Little Downham on Saturday 18th July where my only aim is to give Goat a positive run at 90 and for us to just have some fun!
I hope you and all your four legged friends are safe and well.
Catch up soon xx
