Wow it’s great to be back out eventing….

First event back was with Princess Angelina where we headed to Norton Disney to compete in the BE100. We started off well picking up a 32 dressage, pretty pleased with her score considering it was her first event back and she can be difficult. We were warming up/competing against the big guns (Ben Hobday, Oliver Townsend, Imogen Murray). We then headed over to the showjumping where she jumped an awesome clear… now onto the fun bit. Angelina started off great cross country, however then reminded me I should have taken her XC schooling beforehand as she didn’t fancy getting her feet wet so picked up 20 penalties,  re-presented and stormed the rest of the course.  Lesson learnt – onwards and upwards!

This weekend was Buddy’s turn where we took the 3 hour trip to to Ascott Under Wychwood to compete in the BE90. It was my second time to this event, it’s such a lovely venue with a great XC course and was made even better as the sun was shining. Buddy was very happy to be out too, he did a lovely relaxed test to score 24 putting us into the lead going into showjumping. After having a few lessons with Alex Whewall we have put him back into a Fulmer (for showjumping) to keep a stronger contact, this clearly worked as he jumped a brilliant clear round and then followed this up with a clear XC dead on the optimum time to get the WIN. Super pleased with him and definitely made the journey home a lot easier.

Buddy ready to go cross country!

Next we head off to Horseheath where Angelina competes in the 105 and Buddy in the 90, very much looking forward to this event as it’s a local one to us and is always super friendly with flowing/educational  courses.

I aim to take Angelina XC schooling this week to do some water practice so I don’t make the same mistake as Norton Disney.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sun and being back out competing – good luck for the season!
