And the eventing season has started!!

Charlotte Cutler ventured to Poplar Park last weekend, starting off the weekend riding a client’s two horses in the 80 on Saturday.
It was Mai’s first event and she didn’t disappoint. Producing a sweet 34.8 Dressage, a green stop Show Jumping followed by a ‘scary monster under the fence’ moment to pick up just 8 faults. She then had a stop at the first going away cross country but flew beautifully around the rest of the very well dressed course.
Eric was extremely fresh in the dressage warm up, but he managed to contain himself in the white board to gain a score of 35. A very unlucky pole at the last in the show jumping, followed by a great cross country but sadly he realised Mai (his girlfriend) was in the lorry park at fence 4 and after a slight distraction and hesitation, we quickly picked up the pace again and completed the course.
Both the horses learnt a huge amount on Saturday. I am really pleased with both of their attitudes and how they handled the atmosphere!

Then on Sunday Janie and I were up at 4am to trundle back over to Poplar Park with Pearl for the 100.
Yet again Pearl was incredible. She produced a lovely test with a couple of rusty rider bits to finish with a score of 29.3. She then jumped the best show jumping round she has ever done to go clear, then flew around the cross country clear inside the time.
We finished on our dressage score and secured 3rd in a very hot section! Pearl is feeling better than ever at the moment, and I cannot believe this time last year was our first competition together in the 100 were we also finished 3rd!
Let’s hope the season continues like last year!
