Olivia Turner and Kirstie have put this blog and series of images together to help our clients understand the FEI rule changes for bitting. The most important thing to note is that this is for FEI competitors only and British Dressage, will amend their rules in December 2022. Whilst British Dressage does run very closely to FEI rules, we cannot assume they will follow suit across the board.

We have added to the slides below the bit types that we are likely to have recommended to our clients, to help alleviate any confusion. We have structured the slides so you can immediately see what is legal and what isn’t, without having to hop across to different images. We do recommend if you’re still not 100% sure, you contact your governing body before you go competing.

We will support our customers with these new rules and help you with any new bit choices that you may need to implement. We still advocate that if your horse or pony is incredibly comfortable, settled and working well, you should remain in that set up for training. We can then assist with competition legal bit/bits for competing.

Our ethos as you will know is horse comfort. We strive for the horse to be as comfortable and relaxed through the mouth as possible, and in turn this will lead to a happier horse who can work freely into the contact.

Please do comment below if you have any questions and we will get back to you.
