International 5* Event Rider and BHS Accredited Coach (BHSII) David Britnell has recently moved to Cambridgeshire and we are thrilled to be supporting him.
David was discussing career options with his Mum and was told “Son, whatever you do, don’t work with kids, don’t work with animals and for goodness sake don’t be self-employed or you will never get any holidays!” In true style of always listening to parental advice, David is self employed and runs a very successful event and livery yard with his long term partner Fleur, in Dry Drayton, Cambridgeshire.
David didn’t start riding until he was 13, and is a self professed petrol head, mainly of the Land Rover variety! David rose through the ranks on the gorgeous Continuity who he got as a failed showjumper. Brad as he was affectionately known took David through Pony Club, and as a 5 year old, he was 5th in the Badminton Grassroots 100 which is set up for amateur riders. Fast forward a few years and sure enough, David and Brad completed 5* Badminton Horse Trials. We believe they are the only pair to have come through the Pony Club ranks, competing in the Grassroots and then on to the actual 5* event itself.
David has a super string of horses at his yard and puts in a huge amount of work coaching along side riding and competing.
