Forelock and Load are delighted to be welcoming on board Kathryn Davies and her lovely ex racehorse Goat. Kathryn is a Suffolk based event rider who works full time and her passion is eventing. She is 24 years old and chestnut gelding Feed The Goat (Goat to his friends) is her partner in crime. Kathryn has owned Goat for 2 years and had never ridden competitively until she bought him. Last season they started out at BE80 and they are hoping to progress and build their confidence this season and move up to BE90. They finished 2018 with a Top 10 placing at one of our favourite events Little Downham.

It was through the powers of social media, that we came across Kathryn and Goat (please check out their Instagram @goat_the_event_horse). Kathryn’s frank and honest approach as to how hard it is to produce an event horse whilst working full time and being a shift worker really did impress us. Kathryn posts the ups and downs, being thoroughly exhausted, fitting in training after a grueling night shift, receiving a debilitating kick from a friend’s horse which has thwarted their start to the season and the highs which is why we all do it. The bond that she has with Goaty is just gorgeous and we’re so proud to be working with such a lovely young lady.

Kathryn and Goat also have a new You Tube Channel. If you haven’t been across to it, then please do subscribe. We think that Stephen Spielberg had better watch out as Kathryn does a cracking job of editing and putting her videos together.

There is a giveaway on Kathryn and Goat’s Instagram page for some Majyk Equipe Over Reach Boots and a super Sophie Allport reusable shopping bag. Kathryn like Forelock and Load is very keen in sustainability and the environment. There will be another blog post soon to update you on our Reduce Reuse Recycle programme in store.

Please give them a warm welcome and we look forward to keeping up to date with them this season.
