So with the announcement of lockdown and all events cancelled both my horses were hoping for a holiday… no such luck! I have continued working both Buddy & Angelina, staying in a routine as I was still busy working & hoping that we could get back out eventing. Although it has been a very difficult time, we did hear that our Badminton qualifications carried over to next year… this helped keep me sane.

Within the last month and a half we have started having lessons again & weekly trips to the water treadmill have started up again. Both horses look forward to their Monday morning splash on the treadmill, they absolutely love it (Buddy especially loves to stomp about & splash everyone) I can really see the difference in both horses since they started visiting Brook Farm Therapy Centre. I highly recommend the water treadmill, my horses have become a lot stronger, working a lot better through their hind legs, it also helps with their fitness.

As soon as we found out that competitions were going to resume we got very excited and have been hiring arenas, having lessons & had some fun XC schooling.

First dressage lessons back with Anand Patel were following him training with Carl Hester, these were painful, especially in the 30 degree heat!

The following weekend we made the drive to Little Downham to do a bit of XC schooling with David Merritt & a friend on her two horses, all horses were amazing, showing that they are ready to rock ‘n’ roll! I must say the ground was perfect and such a good variety of jumps available.

We are now in the final few days before we get to go out competing, everything has been ticked off the list – (massaged by Newmarket Equine Physiotherapy, saddles checked, teeth checked, schooling done) we are hopefully ready for our first event back at Boyton Hall EC showjumping, followed by an unaffiliated ODE at Little Downham the following week & fingers crossed for BE.

I hope everyone is staying safe and good luck to everyone who is getting back out competing.

Lots of love x
