Hi everyone, Charlotte here!

Sadly it’s back to school again, but what a summer I had this year! It was filled with lots of activities and events, and I also have some new exciting news to tell you.

First, we began with Pony Club Camp. Due to Annie having a rest, I took a sweet 14.2hh, 4 year old cob called Trigger (Triggs). He had done barely any jumping but by the end of camp week we were having a great time doing mini cross-country courses and a full show jumping course, I was so proud of him! It was a lot of preparation to get everything moved to Ickworth Park for camp but we managed it! It gave us so much experience on how to care for our horses and will really help me in the future. We also had the amazing experience of going round Newmarket Equine Hospital (NEH) and even seeing a new born foal in Intensive Care due to the mare having trouble but they were both fine and the foal was cuter than ever. In the evenings we had lots of social time where me and my friends all had a real laugh. I had so much fun, I can’t wait for it again next year!

On to the next activity, Barrow Hall Stables Camp…I used one of the yard horses called Addie, a 16.2hh bay gelding. It was set out like a 3 day event and on the first day we did Prelim 12 for our test and did really well coming 4th individually! The next day, we did cross country (which I had never done on him before!) and he was quite cheeky so we got 20 penalties but we completed it! Then on the last day we did show jumping where I got an unlucky 4 faults but I was still happy as I was really enjoying the whole experience. In the afternoon, during presentations, I found out that I came 5th which I was over the moon with! As well as having a great time on board the horses, we had a really fun social time in the evenings and had a go at welly throwing which was just hilarious! Again this camp really helped me learn how to care for a horse, doing all the daily jobs that need to be done.

They were the two main activities of my summer, I hope you enjoyed reading how I got on! But now, for some exciting news….

With a massive thanks to Steve (my mum’s boyfriend) I have a new horse called Kiko! He’s a 16.2hh bay 5 year old ISH gelding that has come over from Ireland and I’m going to be producing him alongside Princess Annie. Due to wanting to take the competition pressure off of Annie (we will still be having lots of fun!) I’m going to bring Kiko on and do some fun and some serious stuff with him. However, because of him still being young, I don’t want to rush him into too much too soon. I couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come! With Kiko I aim to do 1* eventing in the far future but next season I would like to do some eventing at 80/90cm as we take it slowly. Anyway, I’m so excited for what will happen for us in the future!

I hope you enjoyed the update from me and I can’t wait to write another blog soon. Thank you so much for reading, have a great rest of your day!
