It was so great to finally be back out eventing. After doing our final shop of the essentials at Forelock and Load (from plaiting bands to spare over reach boots) we were all ready for a day of eventing at Oasby.

As I expected, my two eventer horses Rincoola Rolo and Monbeg Maximus were wired in the dressage warmup, leading to two scores which I hope to improve on for the rest of the season! Showjumping went very well, each having an unlucky pole with very few spooks on Rolo’s behalf which is always a great success. Cross country both boys were electric – two very lovely clears , setting them both up perfectly for the rest of the season!

Next weekend I am stepping up to do my first intermediate at south of England on the lovely Mumbles, so I am really looking forward to that! Rolo is running in one more novice at Burnham Market before he makes the step up to.

The most exciting part of my year so far has been the improvement in my lovely new ex-racehorse African Jazz, who I purchased myself from Godolphin Rehoming. As a completely blank slate, I didn’t expect him to progress as quickly as he has. However, he has been going from strength to strength, and proved himself to be a super little horse at his first every Pony Club rally, jumping the infamous Isleham ditch like a pro!

I can’t wait for the rest of the season now everything has started back up, best of luck to everyone who is going to competing soon – enjoy it!

Tara kitted out in her Samshield jacket, breeches and riding hat all from the shop!
