What a day at Cirencester with Rolo and Mumbles!

However, what would eventing be without the day starting with some added stress – is there anything worse then walking up to the dressage to realise you have learnt the wrong test? Luckily I managed to relearn it and score a personal best of 20.5 with Rolo in the Novice Under 18’s.

It was then a quick turn around for Mumbles’ dressage in the Open Intermediate Under 21. Mumbles also scored a personal best at this level for 29.1. He produced a lovely and relaxed test – much improved from our South of England one!

After a two hour break and much deliberating over remembering two courses, Rolo produced one of his best showjumping rounds yet for a clear round. The XC course was a nice test at Novice with a few technical lines such as a double of triple brushes. I was so proud of how he grew in confidence throughout his round. By the 5th fence he was storming round. We finished clear inside the time to win the section !

Tara in the showjumping on Rolo.

Another quick turn around for Mumbles’ jumping. He dug so deep around a big showjumping course to produce a fabulous clear. He followed this up with a speedy cross country round. I was slightly more nervous going into hte start box on Mumbles as we held a great position after the first two phases. However he is the best cross country horse I think I will ever sit on, so I need not of worries. He was such a pro through the tricky lines such as a table on 5 curving strides to a corner and he read it perfectly. We finished our XC with 1.2 time faults picked up to finish 2nd!

I could not be more delighted with how they performed, and I am still on cloud nine!  It was a huge team effort from mum, Charlotte and Ali being amazing grooms – tacking up, videoing, washing off and lunging, the day could not have run so smoothly without their help!

Next weekend is my ex racehorse African Jazz has his first outing at Isleham unaffiliated One Day Event, which I am really looking forward to.

Next stop with the big boys – Ely 2*s in 3 weeks!
