Today we welcome Oscar, the youngest member of Team Forelock and Load. Oscar is 8 years old and has been riding for just over 6 months. He has a gorgeous grey pony called Blue who is well known to us having taught Keira, who was the youngest member of the Team! Keira has since moved on to her new pony Rocky as she is now 12 and her legs were ridiculously long on Blue.

Oscar with his winning rosette!

Oscar went to his first show last weekend. The show was held at Topthorn Arena which is a local venue to us in Suffolk. Oscar had an amazing day and not only did he come away with a clear round rosette, he also won his next class which was the 30cm! We were totally over the moon and it’s lovely to see the younger generation enjoying our sport.

We asked Oscar a few questions about what he likes/dislikes.

What is your favourite food?
Cheese and ham – we wondered if this was due to his Mum asking the question! It quickly changed to chocolate after a bit of prompting!!

What do you not like to eat?
All the vegetables – there isn’t even one vegetable that can be disguised on my plate!

What do you like to do when you’re not riding Blue?
Oscar’s Mum was convinced that he was going to say playing with his X-Box but she was wrong! I love driving my go cart!!!

What’s your favourite thing in the world?
Dinosaurs!

What do you want to be when you grow up?
I would like to work in a hospital so I can look after my Mum’s lungs.
What a little star wanting to help his Mum.

Keep an eye out for Oscar and Blue who will be holding the Forelock and Load flag over the coming year.
