Following on in our Q&A series, we have caught up with Polly Mountford to sound her out!

  1. Do you have anything lucky that you will not be without on a competition day?
I actually have my Burghley good luck card from the Pony Club Champs written to me from the DC of the Thetford Chase PC which lived in my jacket pocket until last year. Unfortunately I went hunting and it vanished from my pocket.
  2. What is your favourite and least favourite food?
I love lasagne and loath bananas.
  3. What is your favourite song?
It has to be Arctic Monkeys – Mardy Bum!
  4. If you were starring in a film, who would you pick to play you and why?
Pass, I couldn’t answer this one!!!
  5. What is your least favourite horsey job?
Filling haynets – we think this has to be the all time worst horsey job!
  6. Do you have a winter timesaving tip you can share with us
I use duvets on my horses instead of under rugs. I find it so easy to just wash the duvet covers to keep them nice and clean and there are no fiddly straps to contend with.
  7. Who do you use as your trainer?
For jumping I use Barrett Watson and Liz Mills for the flat.
  8. What is the one piece of horsey kit you cannot be without?
Definitely my Voltaire Saddles and neck strap!
  9. What is your favourite colour?
    Blue.
  10. Which sportsperson (from any sphere) do you admire most and why?
Andrew Nicholson. I spent my apprenticeship with Andrew and not only is he an incredible horseman, rider and seasoned professional, his work ethic is something else.
  11. If you could pick any horse (not one of your own) to do one competition on, which one and why?
I would pick Classic Moet to go XC – I think she would be seriously fun as she’s a machine.
  12. Where is your dream holiday?
    The Greek Islands.
  13. If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
Definitely a lurcher! I am a bit scruffy, leggy and very fast.
  14. What is your favourite product stocked by Forelock and Load?
It has to be Bombers Bits and Samshield Hats! I use a lot of Bombers Bits across my string of horses. I absolutely fell in love with Samshield hats when I did a photoshoot for Holland Cooper!
